As I did my online shopping last night, I couldn't help but wonder how many more years Big Sissy would believe in all of the "magic" of Christmas. As a second grader, she is reaching the age where kids talk about everything and start to question many things in their life as they are very inquisitive.
My mother-in-law warned me today that this might be our last year of her believing in the "magic." The thought of that is very depressing to me. Although she is 8, she will always be my Little Girl and I want her to stay a little girl for as long as possible so I will do my best to keep the "magic" alive for her, Bubby, and Little Sissy for many years to come.

ReplyDeleteOOh - what are you getting from A G this year??? My girls went through the catalog and circled a few things! Quite a few, actually!!!! Wish it wasn't so expensive b/c it's all so darn cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe just believe. Santa usually sends two elves to the house right about this time to keep an eye on the girls and check their "naught vs. nice" ratios ;-) I think if we believe in the magic of Christmas, it will carry over to our kids. I still believe, and when you bring in Baby Jesus and the Christmas Story, it all sparkles a bit brighter than before! Faith and hope. It all starts here.

ReplyDeleteI still remember feeling ripped off when I found out the truth as a kid. The parents didn't have a creative explanation as to why all the stuff we kids wanted was in Mom's closet.
Don't give up hope on the dolls. BabyD is in 5th grade and gave me a $96 list from the AG catalog last week!
We are just diving into all this fun with Miss Add. She is totally stoked.
ReplyDeleteAs for growing up... my mom made it clear that anyone who didn't believe in Santa wouldn't get gifts from him... so as for me and Aunt Lou, we still believe to this day. She did it in a way that when we "figured it out" we still wanted to play along for little sis and others.
We told the kids that if they don't "believe" right along with the rest of us then Santa won't bring them any presents. I told him I don't care if you are in 6th grade, in this house you believe. LOL I was afraid he would ruin it for the little ones. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with just believe. My mom always told us it's fine if you don't believe, just don't hang up your stocking. (I wasn't going to take that risk!) I still believe to this day, as do our 5 (grown :() kids. Enjoy the magic and just believe.
